Show-Me Vizsla Rescue

SMVC Rescue is a non-profit organization under the national VIZSLA CLUB OF AMERICA dedicated to finding appropriate homes for purebred Vizslas. The DONATION requested for adopting a rescue Vizsla is $375.00 which meets normal costs incurred during animal rescue.  This cost is subject to change due to circumstances that may arise above and beyond normal rescue conditions.  If travel, crating or veterinary costs are incurred during the placement of a rescue Vizsla, the adopting individual assumes those costs.

All rescues are spayed or neutered prior to adoption, have behavioral assessment, and may require veterinary care.  An adoption application is available by contacting one of our committee members, or by submitting the adoption form available under the Rescue link.

Show-Me Vizsla operates one of the more active programs nationally.  Monthly ads placed in the Kansas City Star are intended to serve as an educational tool where club members talk about the breed to prospective owners.  We look for good owner/pet matches to circumvent future rescue problems.

Show Me Vizsla Club is active only in purebred Vizsla placement.  Mixed rescues are supported through other rescue organizations, such as Animal Haven and Wayside Waifs.  If SMVC Rescue has knowledge of a mixed rescue and you are interested, we will be happy to share that information with you.

Due to the overall nature of rescue, they rarely have papers.  Should a question arise of whether a dog is purebred; an evaluation will be completed by a member of the Show Me Vizsla Club.   Age varies, but  historically, male Vizslas are more prevalent than females.

ALL rescue dogs must travel in either a plastic/wire crate or a harness.  Click on the link below for more detail:

"Yes, I take them in knowing that they will leave me, but the pain of their leaving doesn’t outweigh the joy of the time I have with them. And my gift to them is happiness, every single day, for the rest of their lives."
